TORO PICK PUTS HUGE PRESSURE ON CLERK MARTINEZ TO DELIVER
In the bygone days of Chicago “machine” politics, a cardinal rule was “don’t make no waves, don’t back no losers.” And, most importantly, don’t be a loser, if you can help it. Cook County Clerk of Circuit Court Iris Martinez (D) is challenging that premise in next March 19’s Democratic primary. For her it will be either a Break-Out Day or a Bust-Out Day. Martinez aspires to be “queenmaker” of North Side Puerto Rican politics. To do that she will have to overcome the political clout of congresswoman Delia Ramirez (D-3), Toni Preckwinkle, and the North Side’s ascendant Far Left movement that includes alderpersons Rossana Rodriguez and Carlos Ramirez-Rosa. Martinez faces three significant 2024 challenges which amount to a crisis. She needs to prevail in battles for Clerk of Court, 20th District state senator and 33rd Ward committeeperson. Also, a "trans-gender" Black woman was appointed to the MWRD and Ald. Jim Gardiner is still unopposed for 45th Ward Dem committeeperson. Full Article...

"TOP 7" MOST INTERESTING POLITICAL RACES OF 2023-24
The 2023 election is now 4 months away, with governor elections in Kentucky, Louisiana and Mississippi. If Republicans sweep all three it will be an ominous omen for Democrats. The 2024 presidential caucuses/primaries are 6 months away, beginning in January. The election is 16 months away. Here is my analysis of the Top 7 most interesting developing statewide political races of 2023-24. They include KY governor in 2023, and NC governor, WV senator (Manchin's seat), OH senator, MT senator, CA senator and TX senator, all in 2024. Full Article...
