"CRIMINAL MANIFESTO" PLAYS MAJOR ROLE IN EASY FOXX WIN
JUST BE NICE. That’s the essence of an absurd crime-fighting strategy known as the “Criminal Manifesto,” a theory promulgated by a group of academics who believe that the “over-criminalization” of the country’s justice system since the 1960s has precipitated ever-rising levels of crime and violence. There is a ”hurricane of crime,” they pithily and correctly observe. They claim that 1 of every 132 persons in America are currently imprisoned, and that 1 of every 31 have been either in prison, on parole or on probation. Given America’s population of 330,801,136, that means 250,000 are in the slammer and 1,070,000 are in the system. In Cook County, those numbers would be 40,000 and 168,000. As detailed in the adjoining vote chart, Foxx beat Conway by 171,683 votes (447,974-276,291) in a 917,813 turnout, getting 48.8 percent countywide to Conway’s 30.1. The also-rans were Donna More and Bob Fioretti, getting, respectively, 122,528 and 44,799 votes. The total anti-Foxx vote was 443,618 on March 17, but add to that the non-voters, which numbered 2,176,912 out of 3,094,725 registered voters, and the anti- and non-Foxx vote totals 2,620,530. Her 447,974 votes were just 14.5 percent of all RVs – so her win was hardly a mandate for her tenure, her policies, and for the “Criminal Manifesto.” Attached is a CHART detailing the 2020 and 2016 results. THE RE-POLARIZATION OF AMERICA: NOW IT'S WHO'S "KILLING" WHAT OR WHOM?
Is President Trump "killing people"? Or are the Lockdown Democrats "killing" the economy? The political narrative, until the dawn of the COVID-19 era, was that the country was implacably polarized between the pro-Trumpsters and the anti-Trumpsters, and that Nov 3 would be a referendum on the president’s pre-COVID-19 performance. GET RID OF TRUMP. Trump fatigue triumphs. Then the narrative evolved into Trump’s handling of the crisis, and of the economic fallout. JUST BLAME TRUMP. Democrats gleefully anticipated that massive numbers of angry, hurting (as in jobless) voters would embrace Biden and the congressional Democrats simply because they’re the non-Trump alternative. But the narrative has changed yet again. “Saving lives” is now counter-balanced by “saving livelihoods.” Polarization has been re-calibrated: It’s LOCKDOWN vs. RE-OPENING, government authoritarianism vs. individual rights, and that gives Trump and the Republicans a wedge issue (‘this is the face of socialism”), a whole new identity and tangible enemy, and a path to victory. Here is an analysis of contests in Illinois' 14th, 6th and 13th congressional districts. Full Article...

WILLIE WILSON SEEKS "MARKET SHARE" IN HOPELESS U.S. SENATE BID
Do PPE N95 masks equal votes? Wealthy black Chicago entrepreneur Willie Wilson thinks so. He has (or had) a whole bunch of them, like more than 2 million stockpiled in his warehouses, and he’s passing them out for free like candy on Halloween. All that’s missing is “Willie Wilson for U.S. Senator” emblazoned across the cloth-face. Then they would be “Willie Masks,” a walking billboard. Wilson is the epitome of persistence, which is a commendable personal and business attribute. But not so much in politics, where losing once and losing well is commendable and encouraging, losing twice is problematical and discouraging, and losing thrice is fatal and just plain tiresome. Wilson has lost THREE times: For Chicago mayor in 2015 and 2019, getting, respectively, 10.7 and 10.6 percent, and in the 2016 Illinois Democratic presidential primary, getting 0.32 percent. Now he’s running for U.S. Senator, and will be on the Nov. 3 ballot as an “independent” against incumbent Democrat Dick Durbin, Republican Mark Curran, and a yet-to-be-determined Libertarian -- if he submits at least 2,500 valid nominating petition signatures by August 8.Full Article...

MADIGAN'S "ART OF THE PARK" GIVES DORBRO EASY VICTORY IN 20TH DIST.
Mike Madigan is a multi-tasker extraordinaire. Not only is he Illinois’ 36-year speaker and a 50-year state representative, he is also state Democratic chairman, 3rd District state central committeeman and 13th Ward committeeperson. Not to mention a persistent and prodigious fundraiser. And a prosperous tax appeal lawyer. Nobody ever calls him “Sleepy Mike,” although he is the same age (78) as Joe Biden. And let’s not overlook the fact that he is a terrific VALET. Madigan has mastered the “Art of the Park.” He knows where to park stuff, control stuff, and then spend stuff – as in money, not motor vehicles. And those parked dollars keep his 74-44 majority and keep him as speaker. She "raised " $320,051 -- including about $200,000 in PARKED and direct Madigan money -- in 4 months, had 26 mailers, and won 9,921-4,909 (67.8%) over Cary Capparelli. Full Article...
