"DONE DEAL" FOR STEPHENS, NOT YET FOR MARTWICK

“It will be a done deal” before Democratic ward and township committeemen meet to pick State Senator John Mulroe’s (D-10) replacement, said State Representative Rob Martwick (D-19), the 38th Ward Democratic committeeman. No deal has yet been done. But it will be done on June 28. “I have strong support” among the committeemen for the Mulroe seat, said 41st Ward Democratic committeeman Tim Heneghan. CONVERSELY, it is already a DONE DEAL in the 20th House district, which comprises the west half of the 10th senate district. 23-year State Representative Mike McAuliffe (R-20) abruptly resigned on June 17, and his replacement WILL BE Rosemont Mayor Bradley Stephens, a longtime ally and Leyden Township Republican committeeman. STATE SUPREME COURT'S "BLACK SEAT" IN JEOPARDY

Unbeknownst to most Illinoisans, there is an unofficial “black seat” on the state Supreme Court. Acutely known to Illinois Democratic politicians is that said “black seat” may not exist after 2020. For politically-correct, identity-obsessed Democrats, this possibility, which is now bordering on probability, is causing some serious anxiety. There are three African-Americans, two Hispanics, three women and four men running for ONE Supreme Court vacancy, with the one white man (Shelly Harris) being Jewish and the one white woman (Margaret Stanton McBride) having a coveted Irish surname, each being very well-funded.Also running are appointed justice P. Scott Neville and Appellate justices Nathaniel Howse and Cynthia Cobbs, all blacks, and Hispanic Appellate justice Jesse Reyes. Full Article...

ARENA'S 45TH WARD DEFEAT BOTH RESOUNDING AND ASTOUNDING

“Resounding” is an adjective which defines an event as thoroughgoing, complete and reverberating, and a verb which defines an event as celebrated, loud and echoing. The defeat of two-term 45th Ward Alderman John Arena on Feb. 26 certainly qualifies as being astoundingly resounding, and a source of much happiness and celebration. The liberal Arena’s complacency precipitated a 7,570-5,382 defeat by Jim Gardiner, a 2,188-vote margin in a 14,858 turnout. Arena got 3,106 fewer votes than in the 2015 runoff, when he beat John Garrido 8,488-7,263. Full Article...

"WHAT IFS...?" HAUNT DEB MELL AFTER 13-VOTE LOSS IN 33RD WARD

There is a difference between the adage that "all good things must come to an end," and the adage that "all things must end good." For Alderman Deb Mell, losing her 33rd Ward runoff on April 2 by 13 votes out of 11,495 cast was not a good ending. Mell lost to democratic socialist Rossana Rodriguez Sanchez 5,754-5,741, thereby ending her 6-year tenure and the family dynasty's 44-year reign. Father Dick Mell was alderman from 1975 to 2013, and the ward's Democratic committeeman from 1976 to 2016, until he was defeated by 50 votes by Aaron Goldstein. Dick Mell lost 5,457-5,407 in the 2016 primary, with a turnout of 10,864. "The anti-Mell vote just kept getting higher and higher," said Goldstein. Full Article...
