FRITCHEY-MATLAK RACE IS "SPECTACLE OF 2004"
In 2003, against Jay Stone, son of Alderman Berny Stone (50th), Matlak won 5,518-1,959 (74 percent). Fritchey is the personification of the upscale 32nd Ward, while Matlak is the personification of the precinct-working minion of Rostenkowski machine. “Fifty years is enough,” said Fritchey, referring to the ward’s heritage. Fritchey has the support of his father-in-law, Sam Banks, but Blagojevich’s father-in-law, Mell, and Alderman Banks, are backing Matlak. Full Article...

Quigley recently released his plan to “reform” county government, entitled “Reinventing Cook County.” Quite explicably, the Stroger-Daley contingent was unimpressed with the Quigley plan. Quigley has an issue: “reforming” county government. Full Article...

DUDYCZ TO CHALLENGE MCAULIFFE IN 41ST WARD
The surprise decision of Dudycz to run for 41st Ward Republican committeeman in 2004 will not only terminate his enforced political leisure, but will also bedevil State Representative Mike McAuliffe (R-20), the current ward committeeman. “I want to rebuild the (Republican) party,” exclaimed Dudycz, age 53. “I also want to see Michael (McAuliffe) re-elected as state representative,” added Dudycz. If McAuliffe can’t amass 1,500 Republican votes, then he deserves to lose to Capparelli. Also, Dudycz can’t realistically bombard Republican voters with anti-McAuliffe attack pieces. So give McAuliffe a narrow edge over Dudycz. Full Article...
